Alternating Homes – A New Family Form – The Family Sociology Perspective

Abstract In this chapter, we identify structural features of families with shared physical custody that differ from those nuclear or where one parent has sole custody, and discuss the implications for family kin relationships. We pay particular attention to ways in which alters gendered nature parenting kinship. argue create distinct contexts parent-child sibling relationships produce differences understandings obligations between members. The unique context together constitute a new form. Our analysis generates an agenda future research on consequences custody.
